Blest Comforter, the Sacred Dove,
who ministers the Saviour’s love
poured out for human nature’s sin,
set his renewing grace within;
anoint our lives as we confess
our need to grow in holiness.
Blest Spirit, with these holy oils
our Christ renews what sin despoils,
Christ’s gifts to us his Christ-love show
and help renounce faith’s pow’rful Foe;
anoint our faith’s deep inner strife
rejecting Death and choosing Life.
Blest Spirit who on Christ came down
and helped him bear Messiah’s crown,
whose joyful strength made Christ’s will strong
to sing Messiahship’s glad song;
anoint the servanthood we bring
to Christ our Prophet, Priest and King.
Blest Spirit who brought ordered light
from chaos in Creation’s night,
who through the Saviour’s healing death
works wholeness with your life-filled breath;
anoint the broken-ness we share
through hands laid on in healing prayer.
Blest Spirit, true anointing Lord,
in Pentecostal life outpoured,
use all these signs to make Christ known
and all be healed before his throne;
anoint afresh each thirsting soul -
come down, Wild Spirit, make us whole!
