The Grigg-Smith Bequest

A former Director of Religious Education in the Diocese, Canon T. Grigg-Smith, died in 1971 and left in his will a sum of money ‘the income to be used in the purchase of books of a theological nature or such as the Bishop deems worthy to help Clergy in their Ministry to be selected by the Bishop in his absolute discretion and to be presented by him to those priests or deacons … who he considers to be in need of such literature and likely to make good use of it.’ Accordingly, the Bishop nominates each year 20 serving Clergy to receive book-grants up to the value of £200.00.
