The Clergy Rest Fund - The Eleanor Steel Charitable Trust
The Trust was established by the Will of Miss Eleanor Steel who died in 1919. One of her prime objectives was to provide a Home of Rest for overworked, tired, or convalescent clergy of the Church of England, and for many years the Trustees owned and ran such a place. Although this has now been disposed of, the present Trustees consider that providing financial assistance towards clergy holidays should continue to be an important part of the Trust's function. An annual grant is made to the Bishop, who then distributes it to clergy in the diocese.
