Wills and Legacies

As God's people, we have much to be thankful for. If it were not for the gererations of Christians before us, faithfully sharing the Good News of God's forgiveness though Christ's sacrifice on the cross, we would not be here as members of the Church today.

We too, have been called to be faithful servants in proclaiming God's message of salvation through Christ. In responding to His call, each of us shares the responsibility of maintaining the mission, through our careful stewardship of resources God has so generously given us.

So what are we going to do for future generations? Many Christians follow the advice of St. Paul to the Corinthians to set aside a regular amount in proportion to our income to give to the Church. But how many of us have thought about what we can give back when we have no further earthly use for our assets. Often a legacy to a parish can enable work to be undertaken that was previously only a dream.

Writing a will means that you can be assured that your assets will be dealt with in accordance with your wishes, and not distributed in accordance with the very complicated rules of intestacy.
