Farewell service for Bishop Christopher
We will say farewell to Bishop Christopher at this special service, more than 10 years after he welcomed him here. The bishop will retire on April 28, alongside his wife the Rev Sally Davenport, team rector of Holy Trinity with St Columba.
This service at our cathedral will celebrate and give thanks for Bishop Christopher’s leadership in the diocese since 2010. It's a special and important service in the life of the diocese, but it takes place at a time when we'll be continuing to live under some restrictions due to Covid 19.
It will be live streamed via our Youtube channel to enable as many people from across our diocese to join and be part of the service. It is, of course, a sadness that the numbers of those able to be physically present in our cathedral will be limited, and as such it will by invitation only. It is the wish of Bishop Christopher that the invites will be issued to as diverse a group as possible, so the different aspects of diocesan life will be represented by those present.
The service will include the symbolic act in which Bishop Christopher lays his crozier on the cathedral altar to signify that his time as bishop has come to an end
