An introduction to Anglo-Catholic teaching, spirituality and liturgical practice

For ordinands, curates and clergy

  • Starting: Monday 6th September for 8 weeks (with a two week break for half-term on 18th and 25th October)
  • Time: 6:30pm to 8:30pm
  • Venue: Holy Spirit, Southsea

This short course is designed for ordinands, curates in training and other clergy across the churchmanship traditions. No previous experience of the catholic tradition in Anglicanism is required. The course is a user-friendly introduction for those who are serving in, or may be called to serve in, benefices in which there are churches with a catholic tradition, or those who wish to add things from the catholic tradition into their own practice. We will study the historical origins of the movement, consider its spiritual practices and disciplines, provide practical liturgical training, and think about how this tradition can engage in mission today. Through resources and teaching the course will equip clergy to lead worship with noble simplicity: engagement with God that is both awesome (in the best sense) but also accessible.
