Diocesan children, youth and families officer
This is a new role in a new team in the diocese, supporting us as we journey together in our vision to become a rejuvenating community of Jesus-centred, Kingdom-seeking disciples.
This role sits within the REVITALISE strand of our strategy aims to grow our existing churches, connecting ministries together to form a pathway that grows existing disciples and reaches people who are unconnected with church, and supports them as they journey to become committed disciples who know God and own for themselves Jesus’ mission.
We are looking for a person with an inspiring faith in Jesus Christ, with a proven track record of making and growing disciples in the children, youth and families (CYF) demographic who is committed to developing the relationship between churches, schools and homes in developing disciples of Christ. You will have the vision and managerial skills to inspire others to do likewise across our schools and parishes.
The PURPOSE of the role is to enable growth in disciples of Christ by number and depth through increased and more effective work with CYF by:
It’s an exciting time to join us as we launch a major new phase of missional work for rejuvenation and growth across the diocese. Our new strategy will be supported by a recent award of £5.3m funding by the SMMI Board. Read more about that here.
Approaches to find out more are encouraged. Please email Andrew Hargreaves, the interim Director of Mission & Discipleship, to arrange a time to speak further.

The Diocese of Portsmouth is committed to creating and sustaining a diverse and inclusive workforce that represents our context and wider community. We are aware that those of United Kingdom Minority Ethnic/Global Majority Heritage, women and disabled people are currently under-represented among our clergy, and we particularly encourage applications from those with the relevant skills and experience that will increase this representation. The appointment will of course be based on merit alone. Enhanced DBS will be required.
