Diocesan Board of Education (DBE) and Standing Advisory Council for RE (SACRE)
We are looking for people who would like to have a practical impact on the Learning and Education of young people on the Isle of Wight specifically and across our region generally.
There are currently two vacancies for Isle of Wight residents on the Diocesan Board of Education (DBE) and one vacancy on the Standing Advisory Council for Religious Education (SACRE). Both sets of vacancies would require a commitment to attend four meetings a year, each lasting about two hours.
There are also opportunities once appointed to volunteer to sit on sub-committees, panels or project-focused work – but these are not an essential part of taking on the role.
The role covers a range of influential aspects of our work with Local Authorities, the Bishop’s Council, Diocesan Synod and in response to developing educational policy and strategy emerging from government. The roles extend to the end of the current triennium (December 2021).
Appointees do not have to come from an Educational background as we benefit from a wide skillset of members who can bring their own interests and expertise to the role. An interest in children, young people and education is essential!
If you would like to explore this opportunity further, please email the Director of Education.
