    Could you work as the Payroll Administrator for the Dioceses of Portsmouth and Winchester (our finance team work across both dioceses).

    We are seeking a self-motivated and enthusiastic part-time administrator to join the team. You will be responsible for all matters relating to staff payroll within both dioceses.

    This post is six months FTC, part time (21 hours per week)

    It would be a hybrid working practice: Working from home, or from the diocesan offices in Portsmouth and Winchester

    Salary - £27,887(FTH)/£16,732 (actual)

    Day-to-day duties would include:

    • Operating the monthly payroll systems - keeping to strict payment deadlines
    • Calculating any deductions, additions or adjustments to statutory payments (including HMRC, Church of England Pensions, Teachers Pensions and NEST)
    • Running payroll and once authorised generating payslips
    • Running payroll tax year end, carrying out year-end procedures and issuing P60’s and P11Ds
    • Producing the nominal report and BACS payment files and submitting monthly EPS and FPS
    • Reconciling monthly Church of England Pension Board payments
    • Creating monthly spreadsheets for all starters, leavers and salary amendments
    • Liaising with Diocesan HR departments to ensure accuracy and completeness of records
    • Resolving any payroll queries on a timely basis

    Your experience and skills might include:

    • AAT qualified or equivalent
    • Previous experience in a similar role is necessary – within payroll or finance environment
    • Working knowledge of Excel and experience of functions such as VLOOKUP’s
    • Understanding of the legislations in PAYE, National Insurance and all statutory payments
    • Self-motivated team player
    • Confident liaising with stakeholders at all levels
    • Excellent time management and organisational skills
    • Confidential and able to handle sensitive information
    • Outstanding attention to detail and comfortable working to tight deadlines
    • Ability to work under pressure with a “can do” attitude
    • Experience in IRIS and Primo payroll would be desirable

    This is a part time, six-month Fixed Term Contract role. You will be working 21 hours per week, ideally over 4 days. You will be required to commute to and between Portsmouth and Winchester offices.
