    Here at St Cuthbert’s and St Aidan’s you will find a welcoming church with a warm family atmosphere that reaches out into the parish and the community. With God’s guidance you, as our new incumbent, can help us to work towards our aims of bringing meaningful fellowship in our communities of faith.

    Since the re-ordering of the church in the past years, the St Cuthbert’s Community Centre has made a real impact in the life of its community and provides plenty of opportunities for pastoral care through its links with the GP surgery housed in the building and a wide range of community groups, cafes and events.

    A variety of services is held in both St Cuthbert’s and St Aidan’s ably supported by a Sunday school and Messy Church and occasional All Age and Café Church services.

    We believe St. Cuthbert’s and St. Aidan’s are called by God to:

    • worship God, personally and corporately;
    • make known the good news of Christ;
    • serve those in need, locally and globally;
    • continue to grow as a loving, open Christian community, filled with the Holy Spirit.

    The ideal candidate

    We are looking for someone who can bring us new challenges and is willing to take a risk and try new ideas to lead us forward in our mission.

    We are looking for someone who, through vibrant worship, prayer, Bible study and meaningful fellowship supports us in being hospitable, welcoming and loving in our relationship within our communities.

    We are looking for someone who, with vision and enthusiasm can help us grow closer to God.

    As with all parish posts in the diocese, clergy may wish to also take on some additional deanery, diocesan, or national church involvement. Possibilities can be discussed with the archdeacons or bishop at interview.

    The ideal candidate will:

    • foster genuine relationships with all ages, both in church and in the community;
    • empower and support lay people taking an active part in the church;
    • inspire and encourage the congregations, helping them to grow, nurture and deepen their relationship with God.
