Youth, Children & Families Minister

St Mary’s Parish Church, Portchester, invites applications for the part-time post (20 hours per week) of a Youth, Children and Families Minister.
St Mary’s has a growing youth ministry and is attracting more younger people and families. However, given the size of the parish (15,000) we still have a relatively small proportion of children and young people connected to the church, in common with most other churches.
We have an excellent team of volunteers who take responsibility for much of the work. The paid worker would not replace them but be a team leader with them.
There are many areas offering potential for development and opportunities for mission and pastoral care. However, we feel that for the ministry to grow, we need a part-time paid worker.
The role may grow (and we hope it does) to require more than 20 hours per week, or perhaps more than one person! It is also hoped that the role could extend beyond 2 years. It is also possible that ‘youth, children and families’ might be too big a remit for one person, and there is potential for splitting these roles in the future.
To get a flavour of our church visit St Mary’s Church website.
It is an occupational requirement for the person appointed to be a professing and practicing Christian, (able to pray with people) lay or ordained, and a communicant member of the Church of England or in sympathy with it.
