Commercial Chaplaincy in Portsmouth

Commercial chaplaincy is just one of the many forms of chaplaincy which take place in our City. It may not be very visible, but it is valued and valuable. Please hold this ministry in your prayers.

Working in the retail sector can be stressful with performance targets to meet, long hours and varying shift patterns which can be disruptive to family life and some staff may be on zero-hour contracts.

But there are a group of people from churches across Portsmouth who aim to support the practical, emotional and spiritual needs of staff at Gunwharf Quays and the City Centre simply by being available to listen to them.

Chaplaincy is essentially a listening ministry – not every conversation will be deep and meaningful – but being listened to and heard is valued and valuable.
