Schools and Academies Adviser

Could you provide personal and professional support and challenge to schools and academies (particularly senior leaders and governors), working alongside them so they secure the highest standards of education?
BACKGROUND
The strategic framework for our Diocesan Board of Education is established in the Church of England’s Vision for Education: Deeply Christian – Serving The Common Good. Our work maps onto and enhances both Dioceses’ Strategic Plans – in Winchester, ‘Walking The Wessex Way’ and in Portsmouth, ‘Jesus-Centred, Kingdom-Seeking’. Details are available of the Diocesan Visions/strategies on the websites.
PRIMARY PURPOSE
To provide personal and professional support and challenge to schools and academies (particularly senior leaders and governors); working alongside the schools and academies so they secure the highest standards of education; assisting all working in schools and academies to promote and develop Christian values and distinctiveness; and, ensuring continuous improvement to standards through effective self-evaluation. The main area of work will be primary, secondary and all-through schools and academies across the geographical area of both Dioceses, covering Hampshire, East Dorset, Bournemouth, Southampton, Portsmouth and the Isle of Wight.
This role has a Genuine Occupational Requirement (GOR) for applicants to be practising Christians. You may be a Christian from any of the Churches and denominations in partnership with the Church of England – you do not have to be an Anglican.
It is not essential to have worked in a Church of England School to apply for this role. However, if you are a Christian working in a senior leadership role in education and can apply your experience to a new diocesan context, you are very welcome to apply and will enhance the team. This is a senior role in the team, and Jeff Williams, the diocesan director of education, would be pleased to have a conversation with you if it helps with your decision as you discern if this role is for you.
This can be a full-time role, or a job-share. Please contact Sam Powell, 023 9289 9680 to arrange a time to speak. Further details, a Job Description and specifics regarding the role can be requested from Sam.
