Concert: ‘Misereri Mei’, with The Renaissance Choir

Time for something completely different? Two hours of dream-time music to chill out to, to relax you and to take you to a calmer place in your mind.
- Saturday 12th July
- 7:30pm
- Church of the Holy Spirit, Southsea
We present a diverse collection of unaccompanied religious works on the theme of reflection, salvation and mourning from the 16th through to the 21st century. We will perform both Allegri’s Miserere and MacMillan’s Miserere, plus works by Pärt and Palestrina.
Each piece reflects a strong sense of the spiritual, either by recalling acts of devotion or asking for blessing and forgiveness. We offer a myriad of sound worlds within a set of related themes, capturing the beauty of the human voice.
The programme of delights comes from the award-winning Renaissance Choir, regarded by many as the amateur choir’s version of The Sixteen. The concert will make good use of the gorgeous cathedral-like acoustic of Southsea’s Church of the Holy Spirit.
Full price tickets £15 until and including Saturday 5 July, then £17. Children/students: £2. Further info here. Details/preview notes here.
