We are seeking a Lay Ministry Administrator to join our Ministry Discipleship team at Peninsular House, Portsmouth. This full-time role is central to our vision of revitalising communities and engaging younger generations, aiming to double the number of children and young disciples in our churches through initiatives such as REVIVE, REVITALISE, and RENEW. You will support the development of lay ministry training and resources, launch a new Authorised Lay Ministry (ALM) programme, and assist in creating a Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) for accessible learning.

    • Salary: £26,025 per annum
    • Working Hours: 35 hours per week (Full-time)
    • Benefits: 25 days holiday plus bank holidays, pension scheme included
    • Closing Date: 5pm, February 20th, 2026

Key responsibilities include administering lay ministry programs, managing candidate enrolment and safeguarding checks, and overseeing the functionality of our learning portal. Strong communication, organisational skills, attention to detail, and IT proficiency are essential. Experience with Moodle or similar platforms, as well as knowledge of the Church of England, is desirable.

If you are passionate about equipping local churches and supporting discipleship growth, we would love to hear from you!

The Diocese of Portsmouth is committed to creating and sustaining a diverse and inclusive workforce that represents our context and wider community. We are aware that those of United Kingdom Minority Ethnic/Global Majority Heritage, women and disabled people are currently under-represented among our clergy, and we particularly encourage applications from those with the relevant skills and experience that will increase this representation. The appointment will of course be based on merit alone. Enhanced DBS will be required.
