Twelve churches: an unlikely history of the buildings that made Christianity
Join the cathedral congregations for a captivating talk with the Revd Fergus Butler‑Gallie, acclaimed author, priest, and winner of the 2022 P. G. Wodehouse Essay Prize.
In this special talk, Fergus introduces his bold and beautifully written new history of Christianity, told through the stories of twelve remarkable churches from across two millennia. From a Baptist Church in the American South to a medieval monastery in the heart of the Greek countryside, to the Vatican, and southern Japan, we will travel through places and with human stories, exploring hope, faith, and beauty in Christianity along with the fraught relationships which have been a part of its history.
