Published in December 1985, Faith in the City was a groundbreaking critique of urban deprivation, and call to action for both Church and nation. Unlike many Church reports, its impact has lasted, as evidenced by the publication of a new book of essays, Celebrating Forty Years of Faith in the City, edited by Terry Drummond and Joseph Forde.

This event, at which both editors will speak, provides an opportunity, not just to celebrate the report’s anniversary, but assess progress made since its publication, and the ongoing challenges faced by urban communities today. Other speakers include Bishop Rob Wickham (chief executive of the Church Urban Fund and former commissary bishop for our diocese), and the Ven Bob White in conversation with former Portsmouth North MP Sarah McCarthy-Fry.
