The Bible mentions money, wealth and possessions a massive 2350 times, which is more than prayer which is referenced about 500 times as is faith. We wouldn’t ignore faith or prayer in our Christian journey so how can we ignore money, wealth and possessions? The answer is we can’t.

A W Tozer, an American pastor, once said:

“The Word of God well understood and religiously obeyed is the shortest route to spiritual perfection. And we must not select a few passages to the exclusion of others. Nothing less than a whole Bible can make a whole Christian.”

The sheer number of Bible references about money, wealth and possessions tells us that how we respond matters to God. Therefore, it should matter to us and we should be striving to get this aspect of our lives right. To do so, is not easy and it is a journey but a journey on which we need to be prepared to prayerfully reflect and acknowledge that our attitudes towards money, wealth and possessions indicates who we truly are:
