Heritage Open Days on the Isle of Wight

Friday 11th September to Sunday 20th September

Over 30 Isle of Wight churches are taking part in the year’s Heritage Open days event in September, by welcoming new and returning visitors through guided tours, displays, family activities, refreshments, music, heritage exhibitions, and opportunities to explore parts of churches that are not normally open to the public.

Many participating churches have linked their events with existing community activities, creating a varied programme throughout the ten days. The national Ride+Stride Day on September 12th also provides an excellent opportunity for visitors to explore multiple churches while supporting the work of the Historic Churches Trust.

The Heritage Open Days programme offers a unique opportunity for residents and visitors alike to discover the history, architecture and stories behind some of the Island's most significant buildings. The participating churches range from ancient rural churches to larger town-centre buildings, showcasing over a thousand years of Christian heritage on the Isle of Wight.
