New training facilitator to help with rejuvenate strategy
OUR diocese has appointed the first of two training facilitators to help with our rejuvenate strategy.
Becca Chamberlain will take on the role of children, youth and families training facilitator for the mainland, subject to contract. A similar role has also been advertised for the Isle of Wight.
These two part-time roles will ensure that we train more people to minister to children, families and teenagers as part of our diocese’s strategy to create disciples within future generations. Our rejuvenate strategy includes a desire that thriving ministries for children, young people and families are within reach of every household across our region.
Becca is currently volunteer children and families’ coordinator at St Faith’s Church, Lee-on-the-Solent, where her husband Paul is the vicar. They have two teenage boys.
She has over 25 years of children and families ministry experience in a variety of settings across the country from small town churches, to large gathered worshipping communities both in Anglican and other churches.
Becca worked in university courses administration and has written and delivered parenting, faith and ministry courses for nearly 30 years.
The new role involves delivering high-quality, engaging training and support for clergy, lay leaders and volunteers across the diocese – helping them nurture confident young disciples and build intergenerational communities of faith.
Alongside our diocese’s children, youth and families officer Heather Powney, Becca will deliver national and diocesan initiatives such as Children’s Ministry Essentials, Youthscape Essentials, Open the Book, Prayer Spaces in Schools and the annual diocesan education project.
She said: “Having completed the Growing Faith Strategic Leaders course, I’m looking forward to implementing training for children, families and youth teams across the diocese to encourage and revitalise those working so hard in these ministries.”
Becca expects to start her new role in February.
