  • Teenagers come closer to God on activity holiday

    Young people aged 11 to 18 from churches across our diocese spent five days on a Christian activity holiday. It was the sixth High Tide residential holiday in the past five years, and builds on the monthly youth services that their youth leaders run. The young people enjoyed archery, raft-building, forest tracking, a waterslide, outdoor games and performed in a talent show. They also drew closer to God through studying different characters from the Bible, small group discussions, worshipping and praying together. Read more

  • Hundreds enjoy a swashbuckling pirate party

    Hundreds of children and their families enjoyed a swashbuckling pirate party with CBeebies legend Gemma Hunt. It happened at St John’s Church, Locks Heath, where Gemma led two identical pirate-themed services that included songs, games and stories. She was also interviewed that evening about her life, her Christian faith and her career in broadcasting. Read more

  • Podcast helps young people to examine wellbeing

    One of the ways in which our diocese is helping young people with their mental health is via a podcast that allows them to talk about these issues. Lydia Galloway, from our Council for Social Responsibility, helps the young people to articulate their feelings on the regular podcast. Read more

  • New training facilitator to help with rejuvenate strategy

    A new training facilitator has been appointed to help ensure we create thriving ministries for children, families and young people across our diocese. Becca Chamberlain, from St Faith’s, Lee-on-the-Solent, will begin to work for our diocese in February. She has more than 25 years of experience of ministry with children and young people in a variety of settings Read more

  • New youth worker aims to make a difference in Leigh Park

    Kathy Bacon has been appointed as the new youth worker for an innovative project working with Park Community School and local churches in Leigh Park and Warren Park. She is currently PA to the vicar of St Jude’s, Southsea, and chair of governors at St Jude’s CofE Primary School. She has felt a calling to help young people to navigate the pressures of modern life.   • Teenagers encounter God on activity holiday

    Dozens of teenagers from church youth groups across our diocese encountered God on the latest High Tide summer residential holiday. The 11 to 18-year-olds spent five days at the YMCA centre in Fairthorne Manor, near Botley. They enjoyed abseiling, climbing, paddle boarding, a firepit, silent disco and escape room – as well as inspiring worship, teaching about the life of Joseph, and prayer. It was the fifth High Tide holiday organised in the past five years. Read more

    Clare Hudson has been appointed as the new children and families worker for St Michael and All Angels, Paulsgrove. She will be involved with all the church’s work with young people. Read more

  • Children’s Bubble Party comes to Emsworth

    Praise party maestro, songwriter and children’s worker Doug Horley brought his Bubble Party to Emsworth. Families packed into St James’ Church for a spectacular event that included bubbles of all kinds, including one that encased the church’s curate. He had previously visited both local schools for presentations that mixed Science and RE to explain more about the great world we live in. Read more
