Clergy and Readers from across our diocese focussed on creation care for the latest Bishop’s Study Day. Around 100 of our ministers gathered in our cathedral for a day looking at our natural environment, the theology behind creation care, and practical ways in which our churches might make a difference. The day included input from external speakers, discussion, and a panel answering questions. Read more

An unusual visitor is coming to our cathedral and also travelling around the Isle of Wight. The ‘Coat of Hopes’ is made from 700 patches, and was created to carry people’s hopes about our planet. The patch from the island was contributed by St Helens Eco Church. Read more

Parishes from the Dioceses of Guildford, Portsmouth, Chichester and Winchester gathered for a joint conference in Guildford designed to raise hope and strengthen collaboration in caring for God’s creation. Over 150 delegates attended, returning home inspired by real examples of churches working towards net zero, practical guidance on securing grant funding, and a powerful address from a group of young Christians who spoke about why creation care is central to their faith. Solar panels have been installed on the roof of St Jude’s Church in Southsea – to help reduce carbon emissions and to save money on energy costs. The 36 panels should save the church at least £300 a month in energy costs, and will prevent three tons of CO2 entering the atmosphere each year. Read more
