Children's worker, Newport and Carisbrooke with Gatcombe
Could you be the person who helps to develop and evolve children's work at Newport Minster, the Hope Centre and in local church primary schools? This parish is looking for someone to work 20 hours a week, for an initial 12-month fixed-term contract, with a potential extension subject to funding.
It's part of 'Growing Hope' - a three-year missional project of Newport Minster to help children and families to encounter Jesus, which is supported by partners including the Diocese of Portsmouth and the Benefact Trust. Among other things, it redeploys the parish centre as the 'Hope Centre'.
The idea is to help children and families encounter faith via a new Family Service, age-appropriate groups, creative activities, and all-age moments to help children to genuinely worship, rather than just attend. It would also involve the launch and leading of a new minster toddler group, and the building of relationships with parents, carers and grandparents. There would be work in the local primary schools, alongside clergy, including support of Year 6 transition work, and responsibility for keeping safeguarding records.
This role has a genuine occupational requirement for the person to have a Christian faith, as it involves nurturing children in that faith. and will be subject to an enhanced DBS check. Full details are on the Role Description, which is linked to above.
To apply for the role, do fill in the application form above, and send with a covering letter to the team rector, the Rev Chris Bradish, on chris.bradish@cofeheartofwight.org
