Fourth Sunday of Advent - Holy Communion and Zoom Service
Welcome to the fourth Sunday of Advent, when we light the the Peace Candle in the advent ring. The fourth candle is also known as the Angel’s Candle and we remember the angels and how long they waited to be able to tell the world the good news, that God had a rescue plan and that God was changing the world.
We will be welcoming Reverend Julia Myles for the very first time to Newport Minster to preside at our Holy Communion. Julia was formerly the Priest in Charge, Arle Valley Benefice in the Diocese of Winchester and is now the new Hospice Chaplin at the Earl Mountbatten Hospice here on the Isle of Wight.
The Archdeacon of the Isle of Wight and the Team rector of Newport and Carisbrooke, the Venerable Peter Leonard is preaching.
To accommodate the requirements of the Government and Church of England Guidance as well as our online congregations, the service will contain a number of differences to our ‘normal’ services of Holy Communion. Social distancing has to be observed, facemasks worn and there is plenty of hand sanitiser available. There are no restrictions as to how many can join us online via Zoom.
If you would like a place in the Minster at the service, please message us or send an email to media@newportminster.org. Please include your full name and a contact number for ‘Test and Trace’ purposes. If you are unable to join us or would prefer to stay at home, your are welcome to join the Zoom congregation, where you will be able to see and join in, with those in the Minster. To join us again message us or send an email to media@newportminster.org
We hope that wherever you are, you will join with us as we celebrate the Lord’s Supper together. We look forward to welcoming anyone and everyone, whether online or in person.
