  • Comprehensive review aims to keep people safe

    The Past Cases Review 2 (PCR2) is the most comprehensive safeguarding review our diocese has ever carried out. We asked reviewers who were independent of our diocese and the Church to sift through decades of paperwork to help us to deal appropriately with any outstanding safeguarding concerns from previous years.

    That review has now been completed, recommendations have been made, and any outstanding safeguarding concerns are being dealt with. Read more

  • Anna Chaplaincy takes off on island

    One of our bishop’s priorities is to provide practical and spiritual support for the more elderly members of our communities via Anna Chaplaincy. This will involve a network of Anna Chaplains working in parishes, benefices and clusters across south-east Hampshire and the Isle of Wight. The first of our Anna Chaplains to be commissioned, Anne Powell, is already going into care homes and visiting individuals at home. Read more

    Our cathedral hosted our diocese’s first safeguarding conference. The day-long event brought together clergy, parish safeguarding officers and congregation members to offer detailed support for those who help to keep our churches safe. Read more

  • Worshippers thank God for the life of Queen Elizabeth II

    Our cathedral and churches across the diocese hosted civic services of commemoration and thanksgiving for HM Queen Elizabeth. Dignitaries from across south-east Hampshire and the Isle of Wight attended services at which we thanked God for her lifetime of service and her Christian faith. Our cathedral service followed an ecumenical service in Guildhall Square. Read more

    Churches across our diocese will be hosting services this weekend to give thanks for the life of Queen Elizabeth II. Worshippers will pray for our new King, the Royal Family and our nation at this time of national mourning.
