Hope for All Creation is a landmark teaching document setting out the Church of England’s theological response to the climate and nature crises. It draws on Scripture, tradition, and reason to make the case that caring for creation is not an optional extra for Christians – it is intrinsic to the gospel. The document calls the Church to a posture of lament, repentance, hope, and action. It frames creation care not as a programme to be managed but as a vocation to be lived, rooted in the belief that God loves and is redeeming the whole of creation, not only humanity. It also provides a framework for how the Church responds: through worship and prayer, through the transformation of our buildings and land, through advocacy and engagement with the world, and through the choices we make in everyday life.

Dr Ben Fulford, a member of the team that wrote the document, will talk through what Hope for All Creation is about and how it can be used in our parishes.

Dr Ben Fulford is Associate Professor of Christian Theology at the University of Chester, providing oversight of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in Theology and Religious Studies, leading an interdisciplinary team to deliver high quality, engaging teaching and supervision in a supportive and friendly learning community, informed by excellent research and scholarship.

Ben is a scholar of ancient and modern Christian theology. He teaches modules in theology, philosophy of religion and ethics and supervises doctoral students working in historical, modern and practical theology.
