WORSHIPPERS will celebrate a significant milestone in the Portsmouth’s ecumenical history on Thursday (October 26).

It will be the fourth anniversary of the creation of a website – www.portsmouthchurches.co.uk - that promotes Christian churches of every denomination in the city. Every single Anglican, Roman Catholic, Baptist, Methodist, URC, Pentecostal, independent and other city church is featured.

Not only does the site list times of services, events and activities from each church in Portsmouth, but other churches near the city are now also highlighted - a total of 100 churches are listed overall. News, events, questions about faith, a directory of Christian businesses and messages from fellow Christians are all featured. The website attracts more than 7,000 different visitors each month.

The birthday event will be held from 11.30am-1.30pm on October 26 at the Milan Mandaric Suite, Fratton Park – the home of Portsmouth Football Club. Drinks and canapes will be served.

Representatives of every church featured on the site will be invited to come. Guests will also hear about other techniques designed to promote church life – Neil Pugmire, author of ‘100 Ways to Get Your Church Noticed’, will talk about everything from posters to parish magazines, from DVDs to text messaging.

Any church representative interested in attending should contact website manager Sally Davies on 023 9266 1600 or sally@portsmouthchurches.co.uk.
