Whiteley Church (Conventional District), PO15 7LA
WHITELEY CHURCH is a modern church that meets in the local Community Centre. The church has a piece of land near the shopping centre where we hope to eventually be able to build a permanent premises but for now the land is used as a quiet green garden space - our Church Without Walls - for the community to use as a place for prayer and reflection.
We are a church that welcomes families, and which has dedicated leaders in the Little Fishes (<6) & Dolphins (6>) Sunday School groups (which meet during the second, third and fourth morning Sunday services). We have crèche facilities within the church service and a quiet room if that is needed. We have a youth group for those of secondary school age that meet for a home social and during two of the morning services. Our services range through Messy Church (on the first Sunday of the month at 4.00pm), two Communion services (on the second and fourth Sundays on the month at 10.15am) and morning worship (on the third Sunday of the month).
We are a church that likes food, and so we usually have a Breakfast service when there is a fifth Sunday in the month. There is a monthly Men’s Breakfast on a Saturday morning and also the Open Door Café which meets in the community centre on Tuesday mornings (term time only) for refreshments and the occasional slice of cake.
Whiteley Church also enjoys many social activities which they share with the community. Our aim is to ‘Create a Community with the Love of God at its Heart’
Communion Services are usually held at 10.15am on the 2nd and 4th Sunday morning service. Childrens groups usually meet during the service.
All are welcome. On the 3rd Sunday morning at 10.15am, Childrens groups usually meet during the service.
First @ Four Messy Church
Messy Church starts at 4.00pm on the first Sunday of the month (hence First @ Four), usually at the Community Centre but sometimes at Cornerstone Primary School for special seasonal events (see our website and Facebook page for more details). It operates during February, March, April, May, June, July, September, October, November and December (and takes a break in January and August). Messy Church starts with an hour of Messy crafts followed by a time of celebration, story and song usually led by Rev. Philippa and then finished up with a time to share supper together and finishes at 6.00pm
