All Saints Church, PO8 0TD
All Saints Church is a welcoming Christian community, with a lovely church building that goes back at least as far as the 12th Century in parts, and is part of the Church of England within the Diocese of Portsmouth.
From Reverend Richard and the Churchwardens: SUSPENSION OF GATHERED WORSHIP
On Monday 4 January, our Parochial Church Council members met in a combined meeting to consider what our approach should be to gathered worship in our church buildings under (then) Tier 4 COVID restrictions. Shortly after the conclusion of that meeting the Prime Minister announced the tougher restrictions of the current national lockdown owing to rising infection rates and the pressure this is placing on NHS capacity.
The Combined PCCs decided overwhelmingly that we should suspend Sunday and Wednesday gathered worship, as a temporary measure, to do our part to prevent the spread of coronavirus, to encourage people to stay at home and to protect the local NHS capacity. This decision was not taken lightly, but reluctantly and with deep regret, but also in appropriate recognition of infection rates and the pressure on health services that exist in our local area.
Our online offering of Live@10, Thought for the Day and Evening Prayer remain unaffected - if you would like details of how to connect with any of these, please email revrichardhutchins@gmail.com.
A further decision was made amongst the combined PCC membership that we will not open either building for individual prayer at the moment - this was another decision that was taken with a heavy heart, but the same factors of preventing spread, staying at home and protecting the NHS were at the heart of this very difficult decision.
We are conscious that people's prayer needs are likely to increase when there are no church services to attend during this period; you can contact a member of our ministry team on one of the numbers below if you would like someone to pray with you:
Revd Richard Hutchins 07504 214344
Revd Angela Johnson 023 9264 4595
Revd Anne Gothard 023 9259 6315
We will keep the situation under review in the coming weeks, and will provide updates as appropriate. God bless.
