St James is a friendly Christian community, with a traditional small village church building, belonging to the Church of England in the Portsmouth Diocese.

FROM REVD RICHARD:

"I am really pleased to say that we are now able to open St James Church for public worship, having put COVID-19 precautions in place. These mean that attendance at a service has to be pre-booked see our Services and Events for details. Services are at 5pm on Sunday and Wednesday. Our sister church - All Saints, Catherington - is available on Sundays and Wednesdays for private prayer. No pre-booking is necessary for this, just turn up - details are on their A Church Near You page. When you visit St James, you can expect a short Holy Communion service - the organ may play but there is no hymn-singing for the time being. Seating is spaced out for social distancing and your entry to and exit from the church will be quite controlled - again to maintain social distancing.

God bless."

The parish of Clanfield: St James is committed to the safeguarding of children, young people and adults. We follow the House of Bishops guidance and policies and have our own Parish Safeguarding Officer(s), PSOs. The Diocese of Portsmouth’s safeguarding pages contain vital links and information including contacts for the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor (DSA) who advise our PSOs. If you are concerned that a child or adult has been harmed or may be at risk of harm please contact the DSA. If you have immediate concerns about the safety of someone, please contact the police and your local authority Children or Adults Services.
