WORSHIPPERS in Gosport can celebrate the birth of the King – with a performance by ‘the King’.

Those who go to Midnight Mass at St John’s Church, Forton Road, on Christmas Eve will find an Elvis impersonator rocking the church ahead of the service.

Mike Nova, Gosport’s popular Elvis tribute act, will be at St John’s Church, singing some festive favourites from 11pm before Midnight Mass starts at 11.30pm. He’ll also lead a couple of carols during the service itself.

All the traditional elements of a Christmas carol service – candlelight, carols and Christmas trees – will also feature. The doors will open at 10.30pm.

The Rev Carrie Thompson, vicar of St John’s, Forton, said: “We’re delighted to welcome Mike back to St John’s on this most special night of the year. His Gosport gigs are always sold out, so this is a great opportunity to experience his music as we gather to celebrate the birth of Jesus, the King of Kings.

“Everyone’s welcome, so dig out your blue suede shoes, put on your Christmas jumper, and make it a Christmas to remember.”
