PUPILS from Hook-with-Warsash C of E Academy kicked off the festive season with 3 spectacular performances of Disney’s Aladdin JR. the Musical at Ferneham Hall.

Disney’s Aladdin JR. is based on the 1992 Academy Award®-winning film and the 2014 hit Broadway show about the “diamond in the rough” street rat who learns that his true worth lies deep within. In the story Aladdin and his three friends, Babkak, Omar, and Kassim – played by pupils from Year 6 – find themselves down on their luck until Aladdin discovered a magic lamp and the Genie who has the power to grant three wishes. Wanting to earn the respect of the princess, Jasmine, Aladdin embarks on an adventure that tests his will and his moral character.

Year 6 were supported in their performances by pupils from Years 3, 4 and 5 who made up a wonderfully colourful choir and sang their hearts out. They were also joined on stage by pupils from Years 1 and 2 who formed part of the Prince’s entourage and performed some beautiful dancing.

Headteacher Sara Willoughby said, “It was lovely to see how enthusiastic the pupils were to perform in Aladdin and it proved to be an extremely popular choice. We have held our annual school production at Ferneham Hall for the last 20 years as we believe it is a wonderful opportunity for children to experience performing in a real theatre. All children from Years 1 to 6 are invited to take part in the show and they loved learning all the songs and actions. We were overwhelmed by support from staff and parents who gave up their time to make sure that the show was a such a great success.”
