Churchgoers celebrate 50th and 60th wedding anniversaries together

CHURCHGOERS from a village church marked their Diamond and Golden wedding anniversaries together.
Five of the six couples from Holy Trinity Church, Blendworth, were celebrating 60 years of marriage, and one couple was celebrating 50 years together. To celebrate, the church provided a special cake decorated with wedding flowers after a Sunday morning service.
The five diamond wedding anniversary couples are Joan and Michael Hicks, Carol and Ernie Monnery, Sheila and Michael Martin, June and Brian Wakeford and Avril and Bruce Pinkney, whilst Carol and Jeff Legg joined the celebration with their golden anniversary.
Mike Williams, churchwarden at Holy Trinity Church said, “We were delighted that we could all join in with these special anniversaries. Everyone is closely associated with the church and many are in the choir. For our five diamond couples this was a repeat of the event from ten years ago when they celebrated their golden weddings with a photo!”
There was even a seventh couple from the congregation who were also celebrating 50 years of married life together - but who happened to be away for the Sunday on which these celebrations happened.
