Animals blessed in Droxford church service
VILLAGERS brought dogs and a Shetland pony to Droxford Church for a service at which animals were blessed.
The Rev Jill Kingston, associate priest for Meon Valley parishes, led the service last Sunday which celebrated the companionship that animals can give as part of God’s creation.
The event has been running for several years, and gives congregation members and other local residents a chance to remember how important animals are to their families and businesses.
Jill said: “Some of the pets had been rescued, some had health issues, some could not attend because they were happier at home. But all are part of God's creation and were celebrated.”
The Shetland pony, called Tina, was 15 years old, and had a chance to walk down the aisle of St Mary’s and All Saints Church with her owners.
